Mapping SKUs to Assets

Follow

Summary

In ShowMgr, it's possible to map a SKU to a serialized Asset (however not to a non-serialized Asset). This article walks through how SKUs and Assets relate to each other and how to link / map an Asset Record to a serialized SKU.

Linking / Mapping Asset Records to a Serialized SKU

  1. From the main left-hand navigation menu, select Assets > SKUs to open up the SKU grid. Locate the serialized SKU you would like to map Assets to, or Add an Asset by SKU if you the SKU is not on the list
  2. Select the Sync Assets that do not have a SKU set button mceclip0.png to the right of the SKU
  3. Use this sku-to-asset sync feature to link / map the Asset Records to the SKU
  4. Close the window to save
  5. Now you will see you have your serialized SKU, which will have the Asset Records you mapped

Important Notes:

  • You can only map Asset Records to serialized SKUs
  • If you choose to update an Asset which is mapped to a SKU, then certain fields in the Asset Summary page will be read-only. They are read-only because their values are inherited off the SKU
  • You can remove a SKU from an Asset or assign an Asset to a new SKU whenever. Any data that is tied to the new SKU will get updated on the Asset Record. Any read-only fields on the Asset will automatically change to align with the new SKU
