Adding events to calendar without making an Order or assigning Resources

We really need the the ability to add items such as holidays, company events and general reminders, the calendar without creating an order and or attaching a resource . 

For example I'd like to add Columbus Day, so that the team will remember that October 12th is a company holiday and plan around that if necessary.  But it's not actually an "order." There is no associated work, there is nobody to assign. The date is literally there as a reference.  Using an Appointment order is needlessly cumbersome and requires an assigned resource when there is none.  We created the Game, Event and Tournament orders, in part, as a workaround but again we're creating a work orders for something that might not require any work and and creating scheduling conflicts. 

This is a standard feature in scheduling and and calendar apps. There should be a way to do it here.

  • Thanks for your input and suggestion Jennifer Partin. You're right, this is a standard feature in a number of scheduling and calendar apps. We've had some other enhancement requests to do with creating recurring holidays and events, so we can see this is a pain point for a number of users.

    I'll pass on all of your suggestions to the product team to add to their next product discussion. I'll update this post when I have feedback.
